Why Do The Before And After Shots Always Look So Fake?
The world is flooded with ads for diets that are supposed to help us lose lots of weight fast, without starving or giving up our favorite foods. That’s a pretty tall order, and it’s enough to make almost anyone suspicious. But to top it off, some of these diets often come with before and after shots that you’d have to be blind to believe in. From the same person’s head inexpertly Photoshopped onto two different bodies to a simple change of clothes and a different angle, these shots are clearly fake. Let’s look at some of the most common tricks that rip-off diets use to fake their before and after pictures.
Same Head, Two Bodies
So, the person in the photo is supposed to have lost tons of weight with this miracle diet product. Apparently the product’s a real miracle, because if you take a look at the images, you’ll see that she’s also changed bone structure, gotten two inches taller, and her skin tone has changed, too. Do diet scammers think so little of us that they believe we can’t tell the difference between a real before and after shot and two different people? It seems like a lot of them do.
Photoshop In Some Curves
Some companies are aware that their potential customers can tell the difference between two unrelated people, even if one is skinnier. So they use two photos of the same person, and “help” one of them along with a little Photoshopping. Unfortunately, most of them don’t bother to hire a particularly good artist to do it. If you bother to take a second look before signing up to buy their plan, you’ll quickly see that those shrunken waists, arms and hips aren’t lit well and have that “overly smooth” photo edited look. It only takes a little bit of experience to learn to tell when a picture isn’t real.
No Difference, Just A Makeover
Of course, not every diet company uses digital tricks in their before and after shots. Some of them just use camera tricks, instead. They shoot the before shot from the most unflattering angle possible, and dress up the model to look dumpy and plain. Then, they put her in her normal clothes, spray on a good coating of fake tan, and do her hair more nicely for the after shot. It’s just like magic, right? Not for anyone who knows what to look for. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and it’s pretty easy to catch if you know what you’re doing.
