Is It Unnatural To Be Skinny?
Think about this, being skinny is not what nature intended… in the days where we had to hunt for our food then in fact having some extra fat on your body meant you could survive harsh winters better and it also helped as insulation, it was natural and good.
Now we are trying to zap every last fat molecule from our bodies so that we can look like those people on the front of the fitness magazines. We adore being skinny and that is fuelled by the media and the stick thin celebrities who form the role models of today’s society. Yet if we were plunged back into a situation where we had to fight and hunt for our food, then all those skinny people would be lucky to last a few days!
So what is the point of this article? Well first of all it is to change your mindset, from being disgusted with your extra weight to realising that having some extra pounds on your frame is perfectly natural (not being hugely overweight which of course would impede your ability to hunt!). The second is to make you realise that to lose weight you are actually fighting your body’s natural state and so it is going to make it as hard as possible for you!
People make losing weight out to be as easy as 1,2,3… but the truth is it is hard to curb your cravings, to resist all the tempting foods we get exposed to all day, to turn down that glass of wine with lunch etc. It is also hard in our busy lives to find time to exercise, especially when often it is something we don’t enjoy, why would we take time out of lives to do something we hate?!
But it IS possible, and definitely worth it in the long run, being overweight can have serious health consequences and it puts a huge unnecessary strain on your body throughout the day, just don’t obsess over getting stick thin, get down to a nice healthy weight and then stay there, if your ribs are showing then you’ve probably gone too far!
