The Best Meal Replacement Diets
Meal replacement diets are not the best solution as they don’t teach you how to eat healthily, so as soon as you come off the diet then you will probably go back to your old habits and put the weight back on. Yet if used wisely then for some people who find it hard to restrict portions and cook calorie controlled meals then some people get great results.
We looked at 3 of the top meal replacement diets to see exactly what you get for your money and more importantly, what they taste like! Here are the results:
The Cookie Diet – these cookies taste really good, they are designed not to be delicious or else you might be tempted to eat the whole bag in one sitting! You get 6 cookies to replace your breakfast and lunch (you eat them throughout the day not 3 at once) and they are made to control your hunger.
You get your vitamins and minerals from a pill each day as the creator said adding in those ingredients to the cookie would ruin the taste. They really do curb your hunger and I followed the diet for a week no problem, the cookies taste nice so you look forward to the next one and never feel it is a chore. Of course some people don’t like the taste so don’t order loads in one go!
Medifast – this is a diet where you get packages of food like scrambled eggs, crab soup, porridge etc to replace your meals with. It is more expensive than the Cookie Diet and the food doesn’t taste very good (in my opinion) so this is not something that personally I could stick to for more than a week.
Slim Fast – the slim fast products taste good, but the surprising thing is that when you look at the ingredients then they are full of sugar and sugar substitutes! I even found some trans-fat in one of the bars, those are the really bad fats you are supposed to avoid. So not only are they sugar laced vitamins and minerals, but the sweet taste just fuels your hunger rather than curbing it, I ended up pigging out on two of the snack bars with my shake at lunch!
Surely a meal replacement diet where you are encouraged to drink sugary shakes and eat chocolate bars all day is not the best way to start a healthy new you?
