Intro: Today we look at the very green looking pea soup! Peas make an excellent soup as they are slightly sweet, packed full of nutrients and don’t have too powerful of a taste so you can season it just the way you like it. Apparently this soup has been enjoyed for thousands of years and street vendors in Roman times around 400BC would sell hot bowls of this soup to people.

There are loads of variations of this soup, however the two ingredients that every version will need are peas and cream. To that people add chicken stock, smoked bacon, garlic and all manner of other ingredients to give it some extra taste, but that is all down to personal preference.

In terms of nutrition then this is actually one of the most nutritious soups we have looked at so far. It is packed full of minerals including significantly more phosphorous than other soups, and it has far more protein and fiber in than any of the other soups.
