Intro: There are a few different varieties of the black turtle bean, but they all have the same dense, meaty texture which makes them a great addition to everything from burritos to the soup we are looking at today. Beans in general though are a great food to eat, they contain a lot of nutrients and are a good source of protein too, without all the fat you would find in something like a nut for instance. They don’t typically have a lot of flavor though, which is why adding them into a soup is a good idea as then you get all the nutrients from them but you can add in lots of herbs and spices and other ingredients to bulk it up and add a lot more taste.
You can see from the stats below that this can of black bean soup contains a LOT of salt which is really surprising and slightly concerning. But then it does contain a lot of other nutrients too including abundant phosphorous, calcium, vitamin A and folic acid, just be careful of eating it regularly die to the salt content (each brand is different so check the can before you assume the black bean soup you are thinking of buying has the same level of salt in it).
