Intro: You can get all sorts of granola bars now, the plain ones we are looking at today, or ones with chocolate chips in and even ones with peanut butter in! A granola bar for those that don’t know is just a bar made from baked nuts, oats and fruit which is pressed into a bar shape to make it into a convenient snack. The ingredients originated from the granola breakfast cereal which has been popular over 200 years now, but these bars are often far less healthy as they use sugary syrups to bind the ingredients into the bar shape, and may also add real or artificial sweeteners to them too in order to improve their taste.

However even with any added syrups etc then these are probably still healthier than a candy bar because at least you get the nutrition from the oats and the fruits and nuts when you eat it. You can see below this bar is mostly carbohydrates, with a good dose of unsaturated fat in it too.
