Intro: Popcorn is a strange food. It is really fun to make, all you are really doing is heating up a kernel of corn until the internal pressure makes it explode and it turns inside out and exposes the super-heated starch in the characteristic messy white ball shape, yet it doesn’t always taste that nice, particularly when it has been sat being reheated for hours at a cinema.

I enjoy it with a bit of salt and butter to help cover the bland taste of the popcorn, but an even better way to enjoy it is in a packet covered in toffee which has been set. That way the sweetness of the toffee makes it a lot more enjoyable, and also it gives it a nice crunchy texture too as sometimes eating popcorn feels like you are chewing on cardboard!

As you can see below then they are mostly carbohydrates which is to be expected, but they also contain a nice dose of protein which I didn’t expect, and fiber too which does make sense but I had never really thought about it containing that. It is high in calories though and fat if you add butter to it, so this is a treat best enjoyed only every so often.
