Serving size analysed: 100g,

Intro: Traditionally sausages are made of pork, but there is no hard and fast rule saying that other meats can’t be used. I haven’t actually had beef sausages but I imagine they are even more tasty than pork ones (pork is distinctive in taste but you can’t beat a good bit of beef). While pretty much all sausages taste nice, then the amount of actual meat varies from brand to brand and particularly by price. If you don’t mind what is in your sausage then cheaper ones may have fillers to replace some of the expensive meat, things like organs and fat etc that still taste fine but you probably wouldn’t choose to eat by yourself. They usually tell you on the pack how much actual pork or beef meat has been used in their preparation, the more expensive version will either have high quality meat and/or more pure meat content.

The skin of a sausage is actually from the intestine of the type of animal the meat came from, but there are also synthetic versions too. Nutritionally then they aren’t anything special, they are actually quite fatty if you look below, which may be from some of the fillers that they have put into the sausage, but at 27% fat with 10% saturated fat then you wouldn’t want to have these sausages every day if you want to stay healthy!
