Intro: Ah bacon, we had to get to this yummy food sooner or later. Bacon is delicious and is used in so many different things now, it is an ingredient which adds taste to all sorts of meals (my favorite is pasta bakes which have this added to it), it is also probably the most important ingredient in a cooked breakfast, and there is nothing quite like a bacon sandwich in the morning to start your day off!
Bacon is just a slice of pig meat which has then been cured using salt, which is why it isn’t dripping in blood when you take it out of the packet, and why it does tend to taste rather salty when you have a lot of it. The place where the bacon is taken from varies both by the type of bacon you are buying (back bacon etc) and also the country where the bacon is being made, for instance in the US then it is taken predominantly from the belly of the pig, whereas in many other countries it is mainly the side and back cuts of meat that are used to make this. No matter where it is taken from though, it still tastes delicious to me!
There aren’t really any surprises below, it is meat so it contains a lot of protein and also minerals, and because it is fried then it also contains a good amount of fat too, both from the fat on the bacon, but also from the oil that it was fried in.
