Serving size analysed: 34g, 3 slices

Intro: Cured beef strips (aka beef jerky) are bits of beef that have been salted and then smoked or dried to help preserve them. The result is a very chewy and salty protein-packed snack that keeps well so you can take it with you when you go travelling. They used to be important for survival, providing a large dose of protein when you didn’t have access to other food, but now they are just a well loved snack.

Watch out for the salt content though, as you can see below then the 3 strips of this that were analysed contained 766.02mg of sodium (aka salt) which is quite a lot when you consider how small the strips usually are. This also means in a survival situation if you are eating this you need to make sure you have a lot of water with you too!
