Intro: Blueberry pancakes – yum! I’ve never had them though, we just usually have the normal English thin, plain ones 9 but if I see any of these around then I am going to have to give them a try! Pancakes are essentially just cooked batter (flour mixed with milk and eggs etc), and according to Wikipedia then they may date back to 1430 and before! It is kind of odd to think of Medieval people enjoying pancakes for breakfast just like us.
Now we have all different kinds though, banana ones, raspberry chocolate chip ones, applesauce pancakes, even sweet potato pancakes! And of course blueberry ones too. In terms of nutrition then they are actually not as bad for you as I thought because they are mainly water. That means there is not much room for anything else, so they are only about 25% carbs which is good, 8 – 9% fat, 6% protein and they have a surprising amount of minerals in them too.
Of course people do eat a whole plate full of pancakes at one time, so when you eat more than one they quickly become a lot more unhealthy! (plus adding maple syrup does nothing but add carbs in too).
