Intro: I like croutons in salad, they add a bit of much needed crunch to it, although obviously you are adding in carbs to it to don’t add to many, but I have never gotten why people add them to soup. However, I like thick soup, to me thin and watery soup is just disgusting and makes me want to retch, and what I found out purely by accident once is that if you leave a load of croutons in your soup and go off to answer the phone or whatever, then they dissolve and thicken the soup! You have to give them awhile and encourage them a bit by giving it a stir, but it really helps to give the soup body, and I have had some really tasty soups this way.

All a crouton is really is a cube of bread which has had some oil put on it and then been baked, then some people add flavoring to it after wards, but the stats below are just for a plain one.
