Intro: Butter cookies are just that, cookies made with butter and without any added things like chocolate chips or flavourings etc. The amount of butter in them is supposed to make them melt in your mouth, and the recipe for them is one of the simplest I have ever seen – just butter, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder! I can’t remember ever having tried a butter cookie, but to me they sound a lot like shortbread, which I love!

In fact yes I just checked and the recipe for shortbread is even easier as that literally just requires sugar, butter and flour.

That means they probably taste similar so I can say that butter cookies are fantastic with a cup of tea or coffee, the buttery texture is delicious by itself, but will quickly coat your mouth in sticky sugary goodness, which is where the drink comes in handy!
