Intro: Shortcake is not to be confused with shortbread which is a delicious dense cookie kind of thing, shortcake is actually a sweet, small cake much like the English scone. It is made using flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, milk and sometimes people use eggs in it too. You mix all the dry ingredients together, then add in the liquid ones until it turns into a kind of batter, then slap some of that down in a blob onto a sheet of tin foil or something similar, and cook it!

One of the most popular desserts you can make with this is strawberry shortcake. Which involves mixing slices of strawberry with sugar to drive out the moisture, and then layering them and the shortcake together to make a stack of shortcake and strawberries. You could also add some shipped cream and/or strawberry jam between the slices as well to give it even more yumminess!
