Intro: White bread – you either love it or you hate it. Personally I always go for whole wheat bread or variants like that, to me the lack of fiber and the abundance of simple carbs in white bread mean I won’t even consider it. I know people say they prefer the taste to brown bread, but really to me there is not much difference, and if anything then I prefer the taste of brown bread.

White bread has been criticised a lot recently because the process to make it involves removing all the bran and germ from the wheat, and it is bleached. All this means the carbohydrates in the bread go straight into your system and spike your blood sugar, which means your body then has to fight to try and get your blood sugar level back to normal using insulin.

So if you are a diehard fan of white bread then maybe you should try whole wheat for a week and see what you think, I bet you enjoy it just as much, and it is a lot healthier!
