Intro: Raisin bread is just that, bead with raisins in it. There are probably a load of different recipes people have for this though, because the addition of raisins to it turns it into a much sweeter bread for you to enjoy. Some people mix cinnamon sugar into the dough for instance and turn the whole thing into a dessert rather than a bread, that sounds like it would go nicely with some custard – yum!

If you look online you can find loads of variations to enjoy, but the figures below are just for regular raisin bread without any fancy additions. You can see it is mostly carbohydrates and water, with a smattering of protein, fiber and fat as well. I think sugar is a standard ingredient in the dough for raisin bread, which may explain why it has about the same amount of carbs as the chocolate cake we are going to look at next week!
