Intro: There is nothing like a slice of toast dripping with butter on a cold winter’s day. I like mine to be just topped with butter, but people do have jam on it or marmalade etc. Another great idea is to buy a big loaf that hasn’t be pre-sliced and then cut a thick slice off that and toast it under the grill (usually my slices are too thick for a toaster!) and lather than with butter, yummy!

The nutrition information below is for white toast, which is obviously not as healthy as whole wheat toast etc. You can clearly see it is mostly carbs, but it also has a surprising amount of water in it! Only about 3g less than normal white bread, which is surprising, they must not have toasted it for long when they did the experiment to find the nutritional values out.

So toast is a tasty, wholesome treat that gives you a lot of carbs, a little bit of protein and some fibre.
