You can incorporate the above mentioned items into many delicious breakfast dishes. Try an omelet made with eggs, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes, then topped with cheese. A nice bowl of oatmeal, with a side of fresh fruit is delicious and well balanced. You can also make a few changes to some of your favorites such as pancakes, waffles, and French toast by making these items with whole grain bread or flour. Quicker options can still be quite nutritious and cover the main food groups. A whole grain bagel, English muffin, or whole grain toast topped with jam or a bit of cheese, yogurt with fresh fruit and nuts on top, and even cold cereal with low fat milk and fresh fruit provide plenty of fuel to start your day.

It is very important to understand that skipping breakfast is not beneficial in any way. Many people insist they need to do so because they believe it is an effective way to lose weight or maintain their weight. Quite the opposite is true. Most people who skip this morning meal tend to eat more calories throughout the day and have a higher average body mass index. If you find you skip breakfast because you feel rushed in the morning or you like to sleep in a bit, try reaching for a quick bite. Single serving bowls of cereal, individual cups of yogurt, fruit cups, or whole grain muffins are excellent choices.
