How to Fit Some More Exercise Into Your Day

There are literally thousands of people who claim they do not exercise simply because they do not have the time. If you are one of these people who feel as though you just cannot possibly squeeze in any time for fitness, listen up! Exercise does not have to be difficult or extremely time consuming. You can easily fit more exercise into your day with very little disruption. Here are some tips to help you get started.

1. Take The Stairs: Instead of just getting on the elevator, opt to take the stairs. The act of climbing the stairs will raise your heart rate, and give your lower body a great workout. Simply standing in a box being carried to another floor will yield no benefits. If you do not think you can climb all of the stairs you need to take, go up as many as you can and then take the elevator. You will still get some great exercise, and in time you will be able to walk the entire way.

2. Take A Short Walk: When you find you have some time in between meetings, on your break, or during your lunch hour, take a walk around your office. If you can get outside, take a few laps around the building. Consider taking bathroom breaks on a different floor so that you can stretch your legs and take part in a short walk.

3. Park A Distance Away From Buildings: When out and about running errands, park as far away from the buildings as you can. The extra walk can really make a big difference. You can also try power walking around the stores once inside. You will be surprised by how such a simple thing can burn a good number of calories.

4. Get Outside: Take some time and get outside. If you have a dog, take him or her for a walk in the park. If you have children, take them outside with you and play a game of tag or baseball. You will be up and moving, burning calories, and have a great time to boot! You will love that this type of activity will not even feel like exercise.

5. Clean Your House: Housework can be an excellent workout. Vacuuming works your arms, back, and abdominal muscles. Adding some light ankle or wrist weights can provide even greater results. Other household chores such as mowing the lawn, gardening, raking or shoveling can give a wonderful total body workout.
