Low GI Diet Breakthrough Review Basics:

Overview

Low GI Diet Breakthrough by Wesley Atkins is a 53 page manual that aims to teach you how to use the glycemic index rating of foods to help you eat healthily and lose weight.

The GI (glycemic index) scale is a measure of how quickly the carbohydrates in the food we eat are processed by the body. The idea is that if you eat foods with a low GI value then you feel full for much longer and your blood sugar does not bounce around. You then eat less food as you don’t feel hungry all the time and don’t crave sugary foods to compensate for a drop in blood sugar.

We really like the whole concept of the GI rating and believe in its power to help keep you from being hungry, but you can’t just follow the scores blindly. That is where this guide lets you down, it is really just an introduction to the GI ratings and doesn’t give you enough information to enable you to really follow the diet properly.

For instance there is not really any information on how to find the GI rating of foods. You get a few foods in different lists throughout the guide but the website for this product states you get a list of over 1000 foods, when in fact the extra guides you get might give you 100 at most, and there are maybe 150 more in the main guide (which also includes duplicates of the 100 you get separately).

Also there is no indication of how to really use the GI rating to make up a healthy meal, there are some recipes in the guide and suggestions of what to eat, but we don’t feel there is enough guidance to really go out and create meals yourself which are healthy.

For instance if you follow the low GI guidelines then for every breakfast you could have a snickers bar (GI rating of 41 which is low) and some chocolate milk (GI of 42) and still be following the rules…

I am sure you can see how the system can be misleading at times and although there is some information in there about how to eat healthily, then there could do with being a lot more.

Also no information is given about how to control your calories to help you lose weight, instead the author claims you will just lose weight when you start eating low GI foods and calories don’t matter. One reference is found in the FAQ at the back giving a set figure for men and women to adhere to if you want to count your calories, but you can’t just give a set figure for people to follow as it should relate to the height, weight, age etc of the individual and the figure given there will be far too low for some people. Plus there is the fact even if you wanted to follow that figure then nothing is discussed about how to count your calories during the day so you’d be left on your own to do it.

Later on in the book then exercise is covered in some detail and workout plans are given to help you out. The bonuses you get are disappointing, you get those 3 pdfs with maybe 30 GI rated foods on each, then 101 recipes which don’t mention anything about GI ratings and include things like brown sugar and chocolate syrup in some of them, so we have no idea if they are really low GI recipes or just random recipes.

Then the ’25 Ultra “Power Foods” That Burn Fat’ guide is literally just a page or two about good and bad fats, then 1 page which lists the foods with no explanations, then the rest of the pages are filled with information on exercise.

So this needs more information to help you really follow it and eat healthily, plus more information is needed on how to lose weight using it as well, and some more information about glycemic loads would be beneficial. The author also needs to make sure there really are the 1000 foods promised and maybe give a link to an online database or something which gives ratings of lots of foods so you can use that when you are planning a meal.

Low GI Diet Breakthrough Review – The Good & The Bad:

Pros

  • Eating low GI value foods is a good way to keep yourself from feeling hungry and maintaining a stable blood sugar level which will stop you snacking on sugary foods

Cons

  • There is not enough guidance to allow you to follow the diet by yourself and create your own meal ideas
  • It does not discuss how to monitor your portion sizes or calories per day in order to lose weight
  • There are not anywhere near as many foods with GI ratings as promised on the main site

Customer Support

We sent in a test question on a Wednesday at 20:28(GMT), We had heard nothing back by 6 days later do we sent another email to chase the author up, we received an apologetic email from the author 7 minutes after we sent that saying he had been ill and giving us the answer to our test question.

So the service was good once we chased him up, although obviously having to chase him up takes it down to just 3 stars.

Clickbank.com handle refunds and payment queries which is great, but a forum to discuss the system with other customers would always be a nice addition.

Low GI Diet Breakthrough
Review Overall:

This product does give you an introduction to eating foods based on their GI values, but could do with a bigger list of foods and values (up to the 1000 promised) and more detail on how to create meals based on GI values, and how to monitor your calorie intake to make sure you lose weight.
